Opportunity: DPH is Hiring Youth Leaders

Denver Public Health is looking for 10 young people between the ages of 15-24 with personal experience with substance use or substance use treatment who want to make a positive difference in their communities. The Engaging Youth Expertise (EYE) for Prevention Leadership Team will help shape substance use prevention efforts in Denver with training in tools like assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and capacity building.
As a Youth Leader, you will:
  • Help lead a research project to learn more about substance use prevention needs and share research findings in the Denver community
  • Develop prevention messaging and programs
  • Provide training to community groups (i.e. youth treatment providers, schools, youth-serving organizations)
  • Collaborate with other young people, community leaders, and public health professionals
  • Have a voice in youth substance abuse prevention in Denver

What we are looking for:
  • Personal experience with substance use and/or substance use treatment
  • A commitment to working on this project up to 6 hours per month
  • A minimum of a 9-month commitment
  • A desire to make a positive difference for youth in Denver
  • The ability to engage with other young people in Denver across diverse communities
Selection Process:
Eligible applicants will be contacted and invited to participate in a short video interview and a 2-hour group interview session. This will also serve as an opportunity to learn more about the position.
