The White House Conference on Aging 2015

President Obama is scheduled to host the White House Conference on Aging (WHCOA), Monday, July 13, 2015.  The White House is seeking broad public engagement for this event. To participate:

STEADI Online Clinical Training
0.1 CEU/CE; 1 CHES; 1 CNE Contact Hours; 2 CPHCE; 1 ACCME: AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)

In coordination with the White House event, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is showcasing the continuing work being done to protect older adults from injury and death from falls. Every 13 seconds an older adult is treated in an Emergency Department (ED) for injuries due to a fall in the United States. Every 20 minutes, an older adult dies from one of these falls. To help prevent these occurrences, CDC created the STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries) initiative.

Now STEADI is available online as an interactive clinical training, to give health care providers the tools needed to make fall screening, assessment, and intervention part of every clinical practice serving older adults. The content is based on established clinical guidelines and proven interventions aimed at reducing falls in older Americans, so they can stay healthy, active, and independent longer.

The training will be available on CDC TRAIN by July 13, 2015. Search the keyword “STEADI” to launch the training after creating an account, or logging into an existing account.
