Safety is essential for good community health, and the Building Healthy Communities (BHC) initiative in California recognizes the importance of place-based solutions to address violence. This publication showcases the nine priority strategies recommended by BHC sites to make communities safer, such as economic opportunity and community cohesion. Funded by The California Endowment and developed by Prevention Institute and Advancement Project, "Community Safety" illustrates how BHC sites are creating places where children are healthy, safe and ready to learn.
