New Funding Opportunities: Rx Drug, Suicide Follow-up, Safe Schools

Here are a few new funding opportunities that you may qualify for as you work to prevent injury or violence in your community:

Healthy Living Grant program American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation is accepting applications for its through July 16th for awards of $8,000–$10,000 to fund prescription medication safety projects. The projects should be aimed at promoting safety and preventing abuse among children and young people who are 2–21 years old. Approximately 30 organizations will be selected. This grant will give community organizations the opportunity to educate young people in their communities about the dangers of abusing prescription drugs.

Continuity of Care and Follow-Up App Challenge – Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Challenge.gov challenge to develop an application for a mobile device that will provide continuity and follow-up linkages for someone at risk for suicide who was discharged from an inpatient unit or emergency department.

Safe Schools/Healthy Students State Planning, Local Education Agency, and Local Community Cooperative Agreements - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) program to create safe and supportive schools and communities by bringing the SS/HS model to scale by building partnerships among educational, behavioral health, and criminal/juvenile justice systems.
